Helene (Wadih Dib) Khazzaka, Lebanese Author. Her writing combines simplicity and elegance in exploring her ideas about feminism, love, war, & Family.
In 15th of August 1956, Helene was born in Zahle the largest city of Bekaa Lebanon, she got Married in 1978 to the Aeronautical engineer Georges Khazzaka, and together they travelled all around the world and they got two sons, the engineer Michel Khazzaka, and the lawyer Ramzi Khazzaka.
Helene’s Mom is Salwa Georges Kazan, she is the sister of the poet and philosopher Nehme Kazan who spent all his life in Brazil. Nehme was one of the main Arabic reconnaissance founders. His poetry expressed deeply his desire to return to his homeland and home town to meet his family and loved ones, but unfortunately he died with this nostalgia in his heart. Some of his poetry books are, “ El Watan wal Hob” (Homeland and love), “Mu’aalaket Al Arz” (The Cedars suspended poem) , and “Al Mehrath” (The Plow).
Helen Completed her Primary school in “ Notre Dame de la consolata” - Jdita, and her secondary school in “Les Soeurs des Saints Coeurs Rassieh” - Zahle. Then in 1980s she got her Law diploma From St Joseph University of Lebanon, in addition to her Law Diploma from Jean Moulin Lyon University in France at 1979.
Helen was passionate about writing since a very young age, she published her first articles when she was a student in Secondary school, and in 1992, she wrote articles for AL ANWAR prominent newspaper.
Since 1998, Helen started teaching National & Civic Education in “Sœurs Missionnaires Notre Dame des Apôtres” school - Kab Elias, besides, in 2011 she begun teaching in “Notre dame de la consolata” - Taanayel.
Helen has a charismatic character and loved by her surroundings, and have made public speeches about Education and culture and was distinguished with her strong and excellence in her lectures on podiums.
Since 2010, Helen is a member of the municipal council and has played an active role in improving her home town Jdita. And Recently she released her three books:
“ Haza Akhi fi Wajnati ” (My Borther and My Cheeks)- 2005 : A compilation of the letters sent from the great poet Nehme Kazan to his Sister Salwa Kazan, containing high literary and social value and unavailing a part of the poet’s biography.
“ El Ountha fi l Mathal ” (Woman in proverbs) - 2009 a life compilation of all the lebanese and arabic proverbs which accompanies women in every period in their lives from childhood to adulthood.
“ Fi El Khamisa wal Khamsin ” (at 55) - 2014, A compilation of published articles and unpublished material constituting an intense biography of the author and telling the story of lebanese society trough the old blessed days in the village school, traditional feasts, the lebanese civil war until the age of hope.
